What is Entry Fragger

Entry fragger — a player who is the first to enter a site and initiate contact with the enemy, giving the team information about where opponents are positioned.

Also written as: entry-fragger, entryfragger, entry frager, entry fragger role

Entry fragger (from the English "entry") — a player who enters a site ahead of the rest of the team and is the first to come face to face with the enemy. Their task isn't always to survive: even trading their own life for information about enemy positions is considered a success if the team makes use of it.

Why the Role Is Needed

When a team pushes a site blindly, it risks running into an unfavorable gunfight as a whole squad at once. The entry fragger goes in first, and through their death or kill reveals how many players are holding the position and from where exactly. After that, teammates decide whether to follow up, play out another site, or change the plan.

This role is closely tied to the trade mechanic — when the entry fragger is killed, the player right behind them must avenge the death before the opponent has a chance to retreat or reload. Without a coordinated trade, losing the entry fragger becomes a pure loss for the team.

How It Looks in the Game

Usually the entry fragger works in tandem with a support player who throws utility — flashbangs or smokes — to cover their entry onto the site and reduce the risk. From there, everything depends on reaction time and positioning: the entry fragger must quickly assess which opponents are visible and either win the gunfight or manage to call out information over voice comms before dying.

The role demands not just good aim but the courage to make decisions under pressure — often the entry fragger sacrifices themselves for the sake of the round's overall plan, and it's precisely this self-sacrificing playstyle that sometimes makes this position one of the most nerve-wracking on the roster.

The term came from English esports vocabulary along with the terminology of in-game roles in shooters, and it became established in the Russian-speaking CS2 community without translation, like many other designations for player roles.
